View Full Version : Weekend - box of chocolates
Tah dah :) Weekend in all its glory ;)
Adverts for week end :)
more week end slightly different selection
Weekend box of chocolate and candies In the centre of the box would be the orange and lemon slices, there would be a chocolate lime one, a nougat one , a praline type thing. They came in a white box with bright colours on it.Made by Mackintosh - just like Quality Street, Highland Toffee bars and Rolo's

Yes! I remember these!
White box and all those pretty coloured candies and chocolates! A work of art really. And there was a square fudge wrapped in red with lots of little coloured printed squares on it?
Dad would sometimes bring a box home .Was the stamped plastic holder for the sweets red instead of the standard browny/purple plastic?
Go on, put your nose in an imaginary box and breathe in the smell? Delicious............
Does anybody remember a box of chocolates called Weekend - this would be in the early 70s, I always used to get a box off a certain auntie for my birthday - I remember they had sweets that looked liked lemons covered in sugary crystals - I didn't like them at all. No-one seems to remember these except me and my Mum.
Yes they've been brought up a couple of times on here before
Apologies for posting something already mentioned - haven't seen those chocs in years, brought back memories of the 70s (although didn't much care for the chocs) - have looked online before for photos but never found any.
Thanks for the replies folks.
That's cos all the best stuff is here ;)
The best thing about Weekend was the box. Boxes of chocolates generally are more about the look/anticipation rather than the substance.
I remember the week-end box of chocolates, one thing you have got to give them is that they were trying to be different from the usual box of choccies!
My mum and i used to share a box of these regulary. I remember the box had a white background and originally a picture of some of the contents in the middle. I used to love the green candy one which i think was a creme lime covered in a light sugary shell and chocolate lines on it. It's a pity that most choc boxes in the uk seem to consist of truffle or nuts only these days. Come back cherry brandy, fruit creams and softer fillings !
I remember these so well! My dad used to buy them for my babysitters in the late 60s/early 70s.
I really liked the jellies in the 'weekend box'...........I also like the orange and jelly slices you get at christmas..........Mmmmmm
My parents sometimes got a box of Weekend jellies for Xmas. There were some mint crisp chocolates that came in a similar box.
yes i remember these.
they where just lovely.
that mint green sweet was my fave.
can we still get these.
I remember these so well. In my family we all had our favorites. Is it just me or do families develop similar tastes for chocolate? All of us went for soft centres and would leave the nutty ones or the pralines in the box.9in all the different makes and boxes) The favorite in the Weekend box was the Chocolate cherry cup....you had to get there quick!! Next in line was the lime one, and Mum was the only one who liked Montelimar....(yuck!). I think boxes of chocolate were more 'special' back then and more of a treat. What does anyone think? :)
I also remember these well.
In fact, when my sister was born in 1982 someone bought a box round for my mum.
I think I actually requested a box for my 6th or 7th birthday.
I know there was a few that I wasn't too keen on, but the rest I loved.
I think what impressed me most at that age was having jelly sweets in a box of chocolates.
Jae1976 (http://forums.doyouremember.co.uk/members/14843-Jae1976) says that "I think boxes of chocolate were more 'special' back then and more of a treat. What does anyone think?"
I have to totally agree with that, back then they seemed so luxurious.
A box of chocolates was certainly something more special back then.We only had a box in the house when there was something to celebrate or when it was mums birthday,or christmas.I can certainly remember the weekend box but it would of been in the early 80's.
I can honestly say that I've never heard of 'Weekend Chocolates'.............don't know which box it is but I liked the one with the 'lime barrell'
mmmmmmmm the cherry ones i loved them and u still get the odd cherry choccy in most chocolate boxes now can even buy just the cherry ones which i regret after eating the full box lol
oh my........seeing those pics brings it all back.......weekend chocs on birthdays and christmas.............i liked them all esp the fudges :)
Thank you for posting this picture - I remember being given these for a present a long time ago - they were deliscious - wish you could get them now
