View Full Version : Just caught "Final scores" new opening credits earlier
With how the scores used to look/or would of in day's gone by - when it was justthe vidiprinter (who recall's that too hey?!!), before everything got modern! Great, i'd of loved to lived in those day's :mad: -

And Frank Bough. There was something about that old 'Final Score'. It was kind of reassuring. :) ............ Probably just me being nostalgic.

Ah....Saturday afternoons - 'Grandstand' with that familiar Keith Mansfield opening theme (which sounds a little like 'Forget About You' by The Motors), or 'World Of Sport' on the other side, with the round 'S' logo. Where can you see Rallycross on the TV these days.
and when there was a score like rotherham 6 millwall 0 they allways printed the word SIX in brackets as well just to rub it in that much more

I remember Grandstand spelling out high scores in full.
The BBC Micro / Electron game Football Manager did a good simulation of the Vidiprinter for each weeks results, complete with the buzzing sound as it was printing.
The occasional slips when the announcer read out the final results could be amusing, luckily an East Fife - Forfar match ever ended 4-5.

the fella who read out the scores u heard him but never seen him is. tim gudgeon.
he retired just a few weeks back.
think he had being doing it since grandstand started.
