What sweets/treats do you remember....?
Galaxy Counters- similar to Minstrals
Texan-legendary bar.:D
Sweet Tobacco;)
Pink Panther pink chocolate bar.
Walls Sky Ray ice lollies.
A Dracula ice lolly with black ice, and inner red jelly, supposely blood, not sure what it was called though.
Corona pop-Loved the apple/cider drink.
A Dalek Death Ray? Ice Lolly
original and fruit flavour toffo's oh and mint flavour. Haven't seen them around for years.
Loved Pink Panther bars and Dracula Icelollies - shame they're gone. Who ever ate :
Toffee Tuffee( spelling ?), a caramel icelolly , or
Big Time bars, filling-extractingly hard toffee in a coat-of-paint-thin layer of chocolate ?
Galaxy Counters, Treets (toffee and nut ones) and most of all, the coconut one in Revels!
I think I am odd because I like the coffee ones in Revels!!!! lol
Fry's Creme bars.. have found the mint ones but can't find the fruit ones.

OMG koukou you must be the only person that remembers the frys fruit bars - i always see the green and the blue packet (mint ones) my mum always used to buy me one when i was ill, i loved the strawberry bit!
I remember the Frys bars didn't George Lazenby, pre Bond do the adverts for them, iked the fruit ones better, but can't recall the flavors to be honest, wasn't it a red, white and green kinda wrapper?
Remember the Toffo's mint ones too, on their own?
I bought some sweet tobacco on Saturday :)
i used to love cabana chocolate bars......coconut with cherry in the centre.
sherbet dib dabs.

Oooh Cabana Bars - bring 'em back! Ditto Trio Bars.
I remember those Count Dracula ice lollies - they made your tongue go black. Cool.
Can you imagine sweet tobacco returning in this overly PC environment? No. Such a shame! I also liked the mini cigarettes made of a very inferior type of chocolate covered in paper. Yummy!
I also like that Nutty bar - I don't know if that was the correct name - they were bars with lots of peanuts stuck on the outside, in a clear brown cellophane wrapper. Yumsville.
Remember Mars Bars and Marathon Bars when they were in PAPER wrappers?
Oh, to be 9 years old again..........*sigh*
Smee_1972 :(
Remember the Toffo's mint ones too, on their own?
you can still get em in scotland ^^
Kool Toffo's on the return from North of the border, Nutty bars they were kool, and Spangles, in a variety of flavors, fizzy orange was my fave.
Are Tootie Frooties still out? Used to love them. Also, I haven't seen Rowntree Fruit Gums for a while - they were knobbly on one side, flat on the other and rock hard! They were wrapped in a yellow wrapper with pictures of fruit on the side.
tootie fruities are still out but they arnt the same they are really hard now
What about Goldrush. They were little golden nugget chewing gums that came in a cloth bag with a drawstring.
Goldrush, oh yes they were nice, not much to them though
How about Old Jamacian, chocolate?
Not sure about that one - don't think I ever had the guts to try it! Used to love Milk Tray in a bar though.
Does anyone remember Golden Cup bars? They were a milk choc bar with a gold coloured transuluscent caramel in a bar that was in segements. I can remember them until the mid to late 80's but then they seem to have disapeared.

I recall Fruit Gums being in boxes too, but don't think the tubes of fruit gums have changed too much over the years.:)

My Partner keeps going on about the Milk tray bars I thought she was winding me up, glad someone else has heard of it too.:D
Think I've seen the Golden Cups still about.
Bar 6, a chocolate bar split into 6 segments?
Ohmigod, Golden Cups!! They were delish, haven't seen them for ages. Milk Tray bars were cool but they cost about a pound even way back then!
does any one remember logger's the chocolate was in the shpe of a log. I think you could get milk chocolate, nutty and fruit and nut.
space dust was kool, loved hte way it tingled in your mouth.
does anyone remember the name of these chocolates.
it was a tube of white chocolates about the size of a 50p , dish shaped .
i know its vague but apart from remembering they tasted so good thats all i can remember
I remember Logger, though weren't they called Chocolate logs?
Oh my god, Texan bars!! I loved them! DOes anyone remember the small bags of bubble gum shaped like gold nuggets? Can't remember what they called...probably something really obvious like golden nuggets!!!

Wow,Where did you find that,David?
I've had it for years and years - I have a boxful of old '70s sweet wrappers, catalogues, crisp packets, freebies and all manner of neat things. I have the stencils referred to on the DRACULAS SECRET wrappers as well.
I think I may need to dig it out sometime and do some scanning :)
I have all the Daleks Death Ray wrappers as well (there were 18 in total).

Anyone remember nunch bars, crushed peanuts caramel and chocolate more fab than a fab thing

06-10-2007, 23:36
Hi Again Isy :)
Nunch bars are mentioned on the defunct sweet thread, with a little info on name changes. :) Here's a quick link.
http://forums.doyouremember.co.uk/showthread.php?t=645&highlight=nunch&page=42
P.S, Here's hoping a dont shatter another dream. LOL
hello again :D i remember star bars though they never tasted the same as the nunch bar, although that just might be my memory deceiving me again lol....... and know way did a peanut boost taste the same.
sixtyten
07-10-2007, 00:22
Can't recall the nunch at all, although I would have bought one as I love anything peanuty..(see any american bar)
The advantage we have over the Yanks is the chocolate.
American Choc is pants ..thin and waxy, never melts in the mouth like UK choc.
but the advantage they have is 99.9% of US bars are peanut based.
I've said it before & I'll say it again..WHEN will they make a UK version of the divine Butterfinger, but with Cadburys choc coating it?? :D
DoubleAgent
11-10-2007, 22:45
I had Cadbury's Cherry Ripe when in Australia - LOVELY a bit like Cabana bars i guess as they're cherry coconut wrapped in milk choc.
I remember the name Cabana but don't know if I ever tried it
sixtyten
11-10-2007, 22:47
You can get Cherry Ripe in The Cybercandy stores (London/Brighton)
Cherry Ripes are actually dark chocolate. That's probably why I don't care for them too much. Not into coconut much either.:p

Its called gold nugget bubble gum lol Do a google search for it and see what happens ! I found sweet tobacco, toffos and parmaviolets.
I remember a couple of years ago that they brought back the texan bar for a few months, they even had it in woolies and tescos.
Oh my god, Texan bars!! I loved them! DOes anyone remember the small bags of bubble gum shaped like gold nuggets? Can't remember what they called...probably something really obvious like golden nuggets!!!
Did they come in a little yellow draw string bag? (small bits of nuggets yummy)!:)

Probably not true.
DYR Toblerone in boxes ?

Those mint cracknel bars with the green glass-like stuff inside were great.
I also remember a lovely chocolate milk ice lolly but can't remember the name, it was about the same shape and size as a Smashers lolly.
When I was really small I remember a red boiled sweet lolly in a cellophane wrapper, flat and oval shaped with white swirled through it. they were gorgeous!:)

I remember coffee break. Two fingered bar similar to a kit kat but with textured chocolate like twix. They were choc coated wafers with a coffee filling.
Cabana bar - they should bring that back, it was gorgeous.

space dust was kool, loved hte way it tingled in your mouth.
My daughter came back from a party last week with a little bag of sweets in the "going home bag", and when I opened it for her i realised it was Space Dust!! (but it was called something different). I told her to try a tiny speck of it and she hated it, so I poured the whole lot in my mouth and let her watch and listen lol! it really took me back to my youth :)
My all time favorite the foam teddy bears, I just love it because it's really soft and chewy and the taste?? Wow I should say it's perfectly delicious! I can't resist to have it always in my bag when I get nothing to do from my work. I just purchase a box of it since I can't any stores here that are selling just like this one, I'm waiting for my box to received it. Can't wait to have it. :)

well it does not stock it in my local shops.
well not the big supermarkets that ive seen.
maybe i have not looked carefully enough.
In addition to those already mentioned, I used to love those milk teeth sweets that recently ceased to exist. Also, as mentioned in other forum discussions, Cadbury Fuse bars were great.
Other than that, I would love to bring back the confectionery of old that didn't come in the all-in-one plastic rubbish we get nowadays. I am still very sad that I cannot get Cadbury Dairy Milk and, in particular, Fruit & Nut bars in the foil and paper packaging I grew up with. Thank god Nestle saw sense on the two-finger Kit Kat.

Fuse and Cabana bars. They bring back something rubbish like Wispa and stop Fuse. NO!
Oi!. Some of us here like the Wispa.
Agree though about the Cabana. Loved that bar.

Why the Wispa was only Cadbury's half-baked attempt to compete with the mighty Aero. They had to give it titchy bubbles so it was different enough and I was never swayed. In the world of chocolate and bubbles, Aeros rule! Mind you, nothing can hold a candle to a Flake.
i never even seen the bubbles in wispa.
but why when they brought wispa back did they not bring other sweets back.
and at least its exactly the same as it was both in name and what its like.
maybe w should start a petition to see what we what brought back and then contact them.
bring back 5 centres and the proper star bar and boost.
anf get snickers made marathon again.
why was its name changed anyone know.

Wispa may be the same taste and texture but its no where near the same size! Wispa's used to be nearly twice as thick as they are now when first launched in the North East in 1981! I remember them well!

I used to enjoy the occasional Cadbury's Snowflake, which came out at the end of the '90s. White chocolate Flake wrapped in milk chocolate, a bit like a Galaxy Ripple, but with white chocolate inside. I don't know why they disappeared.

You need a magnifying glass. The whole bar is bubbles, but they are so tiny they go unnoticed.
As for snowflakes, I can't think of them without picturing Anthea Turner scoffing them at her wedding and having the photos all over OK magazine. My God .
Anybody remember Cadbury's Dream bars? They were white chocolate. Not sure if you can still get them. They weren't as nice as Milky Bar chocolate.
yes i see cadburys dream bars in my local shop.
must admit i do like them too much.
and yes they still have there proper name.

They definitely need to bring back the original coconut Boosts in the red wrapper - what was different about old Star Bars to the current ones? I can't remember
i think the original star bars where flat with coloured stars on them.
maybe im thinking of something else but i think im right.

Talking about wrappers with stars has got me thinking about milky ways. One thing I remember was that the usual wrapper was blue with white stars, but a couple of times I had a bar that was white with blue stars. Does anyone know if these were a different type of milky way or whether it was just a variation in the wrapper?

I remember the multi-bagged fun-size Milky Ways in the 1980s had white & blue wrappers, & wondered why they were different to the normal bars.

I remember Milky Way wrappers being white. I'm sure they were white before they were blue.

Loved Cadbury's Strollers - chocolate balls with caramel centres, poss early 90's.
Sherbet Shandies - hard sherbet on a stick, but crumbled in your mouth when you bit into it, came in strawbery and lemon flavours.
Rainbow sherbet - tasted divine when all mixed together.
Cadbury's Caramel - in it's original 80's format of wide chunks, it doesn't even taste the same :0(
Double decker - although I have no complaints of the bar itself, as it seems larger now than what I remember from the 80's, they should bring back the original 'decker bus' packaging.
here is a link to a shop that sells a lot of these old sweets.

has anyone here bought from them.
they sell a lot of old sweets that cannot be bought in shops today.

I used to like Strollers. I recall that the song 'Wonderful Life' by Black was used in the TV ads for them.

There seemed to be a lot of new sweets launched in the late 1980s - early 1990s, many of which didn't last for more than a few years.
Time Out is one that did catch on, for years I had a cup with the original logo on (which came with an easter egg), until a friend of the family managed to break it.
i loved spangles thay were the best, old english now theres a sweet to remember lol,
