Another vague memory.....

I can remember my brother buying (or receiving as presents) LP's which was called something like Hits of.... (1970) (1971). The songs were never sung buy the original artists, and the cover always had a woman (girl) dressed up in a football kit. Ring any bells for anyone? or was it just a dream.....

There were another series, we had one with a girl in an Arsenal kit standing in a goal. I think one of the tracks on it was 'Hickory Holler's Tramp'.
I've never understood what the hell that song was about:p

No,I meant the album sleeve.
CCS were popular, as the singer was DJ Alexis Korner and their version of "Whole Lotta Love" was the 70's TOTP theme

The one with those songs I just mentioned may have been from a different album.... not originals (again).. this thread just triggered another memory of those particular songs!

I absolutely hate hearing non-original versions of songs... makes me cringe!

So does that mean you prefer to hear Manilow than Take That and Westlife singing Could it be Magic and Mandy Karen ?? :p;)

Personally, I would - especially Mandy - but I am an unashamed Manilow fan:D

sixtyten
18-02-2008, 20:57
Take That versions not too bad, but as for Westlife :rolleyes:

I think she means non-original in the TOTP albums context as the tracks were all played by unknown session men. Like that horrid piped muzak you get in cheapo supermarkets that don't want to pay for a PRS license:p

I prefer the Take That one too Daz - Westlife one was c**p !!

I knew exactly what she meant though - just pulling Karen's chain a little :p
