Scared the shiz out of me when I was young. There were all these elements, who were time agents, and sapphire and steel (despite not being elements!) would get assigned cases. There was one storyline where there was this being who only existed in photographs, another where there was two kids in a house trapped in time or something....

excellent show,to relive the whole experience get the dvd box set like i did, unlike some shows that seemed good back then, it still is good and just as scary now, well wrote and acted apart from adventure 3,which is poor,2,is my personal favourite.
This was a kool show, though kinda sad that it ended on a cliffhanger, but theres often talk of a remake?

Hi guys!!
Although I used to watch this and was quite into Joanna Lumley (and in the New avengers) I only really remember a brief bit of an episode with a Ghostly World War one soldier at a Train Station, think he was singing 'Its a long way to Tipperary'..lo.. thats about it..might have to get that DVD boxset meethinks...lol...
all the best...
Rab ;0)
It was kool and scarey at times too, Jonna Lumley is always, was sexy, great legs too, especially in the New Avengers, and was a super sexy Doctor Who in the spoof comic relief sketch. David was kool in the Man from UNCLE too, and the guy who wrote S & S and created it is a writer on the way kool TORCHWOOD series now, P.J. Hammond I think, clever writer, with a vivid imagination too.

He may have Rab, think they kinda did the rounds in the old ITC series, The Saint, The Champion's, Department S, The Baron, Man in a suitcase, Randall and Hopkirk, Jason King etc.
TORCHWOOD rocks, its so kool, and Eve is sexy mmmmmmmmm.

Lead. Loved the show, which is not to say I always understood what was going on.
I saw the opening episode when I was 7 or 8 on holiday in Whitby with my two cousins. The one about the nursery rhyme, "Ring-a-ring O'Roses". Scared the hell out of us!
My younger cousin was so frightened he cried for hours afterwards. Young children should not have been allowed to watch this.

omg I remember the one where the ghost whistled...and there was an abandoned train station with 11.11 scrawled on the glass and the ghosts were wondering up and down the platform ..... I was totally freaked out watching that!
Love your logo........hope the Trumpton Life on Mars characters are in an episode.....:p
Yeah - that show used to scare the living **** out of me as a kid. I remember one with some kind of demon/mutant swan/goose thing.
There Was 1 Episode Which Really Freaked Me- It Was The 1 About The Man On The Stairs With No Face. I Can Still Remember The Spooky Poem They Had In The Episode Which Went 'as I Was Walking Up The Stairs, I Met A Man Who Wasn't There, He Wasn't There Again Today, How I Wish He'd Go Away.' Given Me Butterflies Even Writing It!!!

I recently watched a S&S story on Youtube (for me the most memorable story)..the WW1 armistice 'ghost' one...forgot all about the sad/shocking ending where Steel sacrifices the fella (Tully?) to the spirits
Anybody remember this programme from the 70's i think With Joanna Lumley and another man was her sidekick but i cant think of who he was does anybody know?

i remember seeing this when i was young and at the time i didn`t have a clue as to who they where or what is was they where suppose to be doing, but now i`m older i brought a box set with 6 dvd`s, and while it is still a wierd series i now have some idea as to what is happening, there is 6 assignments in the box set, but they don`t have titles so i`ll try to list what each is about.
assignment 1: is set in a farm house, a young girl is singing an old nursery rhyme, and people disappear, this episode also features lead.
a2: is set in a train station where a ghost is feeding on resentment.
a3: is set in an invisable house, where a family from the future is attacked by a force sent by time itself, silver also turns up to help out.
a4: is set in a junk shop, an unknown entity with no face is creating children from photos, and he is also hiding in the photos.
a5: is set in a posh house of a well to do family, this episode is almost like an episode of columbo, and it shows why people shouldn`t mess with time.
a6: is set in a petrol station, in this episode we get to see the heavy elements, although why they are so dangerous is only hinted at in this episode, and silver is also in it, this episode also concludes the series and explains why they may never return.
i hope this info helps other remember this series, it`s a shame there`s only 6 episodes, i would love to see more of these two in action.

There are so few shows that deserve the title of "classic" when you re-watch them years later. Most can dissapoint and don't live up to memories. This show was so good then and is still very good to watch now it must be nothing short of a true TV classic in every sence. It's spooky and menacing without all that blood and gore you get with horror. It keeps you on the edge of your seat, and the characters just suck you in to the events that are unfolding around them. The complete DVD set did not dissapoint and is a worthy investment for anybody that likes a bit of sci fi or a spooky unsettling atmosphere. And that sapphire is sure a good looking lady. One of my favourite late 70's early 80's programs.

There have been continual rumours of new episodes since the original show finished all those years ago.Why oh why they did not continue is a big mystery as the show itself was extreamly popular.Have a feeling it may of been an early casualty when they started to do away with the regional stations. The tv strike did not do the show any favours either.
It just never made sense to me as a kid and even now - and I thought it was naff - lol. I also remember both actors haircuts practically matched - like bowlcuts...!

I think that bizarre cliffhanger ending has ensured its place in history.

My girlfriend has the box set of this, over the weekend we watched a few of them.
Some stories are quite creepy, but it's compelling view knowing what's going on.
