We had a white one with a black vinyl roof and automatic windows. Quite posh for us in the early 80s

Theres a red one parked on a driveway by my Mrs's in Redditch it looks like it has been there for ages because the tyres are flat and it has moss growing on the roof and bonnet.

Oh dear, I feel like this toward many beautiful and unloved vehicles, I can see the potential, problem is they take up too much room and become and expensive hole in the pocket?

Mind you, a Capri?.........................

Me and hubby were the proud owners of a Mk II Capri in the early 80s. It was yellow with a black vinyl roof.

In the mid 70s, Dad's firm's car went into the garage, so we got a 'pool' car. It was a Capri! Me and my brother were sooo excited! I think we only had the car for a few days, but it was wonderful.

Then, not long after, my Dad's friend bought one. I don't know the model but I think it was a 'turbo suped-up' version. The guy offered my brother and myself a ride. Mum said, "OK, but take it easy." That didn't exactly happen. We went about 90 miles an hour down the motorway and my brother and I loved it!!

(not belted up in the back seat :O )

I almost had a Capri once. I needed a new car for going away to college in '92, as the Mk3 Escort I had at the time was unreliable, so I went to a secondhand car dealership down the road, and they had a Mk3 Capri - 'A' reg in really good condition. Trouble was that the insurance would have been too much as it had a 2.8 litre engine. I ended up buying another newer Mk3 Escort which was much more reliable than the first one, and I kept that car for 4 years.

Surprised no-one's mentioned 'The Professionals' yet. The Capri was their car of choice and always connected with the series. Although they began with British Leyland machinery, but BL proved to be unreliable as the cars they used were demonstrators and they kept taking them back during filming. So the production team switched to Fords. Doyle tooled around in a Mk2 Escort RS2000 for a while, whilst Bodie had a silver Capri. By the end, they both had Capris.

I've had a couple of 3lt Capris, nice cars back when fuel was a bit more realistically priced. I also has a 1964 Capri which was the very first model, quite rare now I believe.

Passed my driving test in 1985 and always wanted a Capri but it never worked out for some reason.......Cortina mk111 I think I ended up with. Anyway, I was working in New Milton a couple of years ago and this elderly lady pulled in the car park driving a Ford Capri (green with a black vinyl roof i think) and it had done about 30 thousand miles from new .............it was immaculate.

My uncle had a Metallic green mk1 with a black vinyl roof, a slatted plastic thing that covered the rear window, furry blue seat covers, a Colonel Bogey air horn and a toggle switch on the dashboard labeled 'Death Ray'! He sold it and bought an Austin Montego and despite being a brand-new car, it was absolute rubbish and kept breaking down. Luckily, the Montego got written off by a dustcart and replaced by a Ford Granada GXE.

My dad had a metallic biscuity beige ford Capri in the 70s. It was eventually replaced with an orangey/ rust coloured Ford Cortina with a black leather roof that was the double (visually at least, I wouldn't know about the spec) of the one that Gene Hunt drove in Life On Mars.

I think we had a Capri, I can not recall though I have recollections of one - though I may be thinking of a Ford Escort tha we had which was similar in colour. Ford Capri's were a great Car indeed which I have got great memnory's of from the 1980s as with many other Ford's from this era too.

It was the car I'd always wanted, so when I got chance, I bought one back in 1989. It was a red 2L mk II (I think!), with alloy wheels. I loved it to bits, and was devastated when I had to part with it, as it was costing more to keep on top of it than I could afford
