Help remembering a movie

OK see if you guys can help me with this,

A film they used to show on sky in the early - mid 90's, so it predates that by a couple of years at least in terms of production.

There is one scene in particular I remember, A swashbuckling type hero, dressed in black, with a girl and a bad character in a forest scene,
the hero challenges the bad guy to a poison challenge and puts poison in one of two glasses of wine, and switches them round.
but it transpires that both glasses were poisoned but he is immune to the poison so the other guy dies

I don't really remember much else about the film, any ideas?

The bit about grandfather reading to grandson really rings a bell too.

So before I go and order it, is it actually any good or will my memory be spoiled by watching it again?

I'd go for it lol, seems to have good reviews on line, get it second hand off Ebay then if its no good re-list it

I heartily recommend buying it, it's a timeless classic and perfect for a Sunday hangover film.
