  • Seventies Songs You Never Hear Anymore

Here is a list of pop songs which you never seem to hear anymore on the radio (at least I haven't):

    Magic Fly - Space (1977)
    Automatic Lover - Dee D Jackson (1978)
    Car 67 - Driver 67 (1978)
Loving You Has Made Me Bananas - Guy Marks (1978)
    I've Been Hurt - Guy Darrell (1973)
Do You Wanna Dance - Barry Blue (1973)
The Night Chicago Died - Paper Lace (1974)
You Little Trustmaker - The Tymes (1974)
The Crunch - The Rah Band (1977)
The Laughing Gnome - David Bowie (1973)
I'd Love You To Want Me - Lobo (1974)
Making Up Again - Goldie (1978)
    Everybody's Happy Nowadays - The Buzzcocks (1979)
Let's Get Together Again - The Glitter Band (1974)
Deeply Dippy - Right Said Fred (1992)
Hurt So Good - Susan Cadogan (1975)
Run To The Door - Clinton Ford (1966)
Hello, This Is Joannie - Paul Evans (1979)
Black Pudding Bertha - The Goodies (1975)
Red Dress - Alvin Stardust (1974)
Long Legged Woman Dressed In Black - Mungo Jerry (1974)
Early In The Morning - Vanity Fare (1969)
Take That Look Off Your Face - Marti Webb (1980)
Juke Box Jive - The Rubettes (1974)
Eye Level (Theme from Van De Valk) - Simon Park Orchestra (1973)
    Everything I Own - Ken Booth (1974)
    I Don't Love You But I Think I Like You - Gilbert O'Sullivan (1975)
King Of The Cops - Billy Howard (1975)
    Moonshine Sally - Mud (1975)
    L-L-L-Lucy - Mud (1975)
    Trocadero - Showaddywaddy (1976)
Love Me, Love My Dog - Peter Shelly (1975)
Oh No, Not My Baby - Rod Stewart (1973)

Come ON, all you radio DJs - it's about time you played these songs again. What's the matter with you all?

Can anybody else think of any more long-forgotten pop songs which could do with a bit of radio recognition every now and then?

Oh, I want to add one other song to that list:

Tantalise - Jimmy The Hoover (evokes memories of the hot summer of 1983, when that song was played to death).

Yes indeed, some good selections there. And here are a few more I have just remembered:

Don't Mess With My Toot Toot - Denise LaSalle (1975)

Making Plans For Nigel - XTC (1979)
To Be Or Not To Be - BA Robertson (1980)
My Resistance Is Low - Robin Sarstedt (always evokes memories of that red hot summer of 1976)
It Only Takes A Minute (100 Ton And A Feather, again '76)

Digital radio has been a blessing for forgotten 70s and 80s stuff, with the dedicated stations there's always something you haven't heard for ages coming on.
The only thing to look forward to is the past

Problem is that almost all of the radio stations, including oldies stations, play the same dozen songs all day.
