  • Best looking police cars

What, in your opinion, were the best looking police cars to have prowled the streets of Britain between 1970 to 1999? This also includes unmarked police cars.

Rover SD1s seemed natural as police cars, especially the ones with 3.5 litre V8's.

Supposedly the Metropolitan Police liked them so much they bought up a job lot when production ended.

Volvo 850 saloon and estate - great looking cars. I was interested to read that a few forces experimented with Talbot Tagoras in the early 1980s - weird choice or what? Maybe sales were so poor they were giving them away!

The Subaru Imprezza's and Mitsubishi Evo's as used on the TV show Police Interceptors. I always wondered when police stop cars for carrying no insurance why don't they use those impounded such as the Scooby's & Evo's to use as unmarked traffic cars to chase those driving similar cars

Sierra Cosworths too as used in the BBC's X Cars about Greater Manchester police Tactical Vehicle Unit

Do you really believe the other side without provocation would launch so many ICBM's, subs and ships knowing that we would have no option to launch as well? It would break our MAD Treaty (Mutually Assured Destruction) not to mention the end of the world as we know it.

Ford Granadas & Vauxhall Senators were popular for motorway patrol duties, along with Range Rovers.

Apparently police started using Cosworth's because the crims were using them just like when police changed from Commer & Thames vans to Transits to match the crims in their's

The same with the police using Jaguar Mk2s in the 1960s, as they needed to keep up with criminals using them.

I've heard of LDV Sherpa vans being fitted with Rover V8's for police work, hopefully for extra lugging ability rather than speed.
