      Re: Football Clubs

I think that it is Dundee and Dundee United - I am certain that I read that they are both the closest to each other somewhere, probably on Wikipedia.

From a local perspective, I know that Nottingham Forest and Notts County are close together with only the River Trent separating both clubs - the City Ground is outside the City boundary, while since 1998, Notts County is not on County Council soil.

          Re: Football Clubs

I am surprised that some clubs don't merge because of the short distance - I have often assumed that the Dundee issue can be so confusing to visitors and that some have actually arrived at the wrong club as a result. On the other hand, I suppose that there is so much rivalry between local clubs that such an idea would be completely out of the question.

All we need now is for a rival football club to be so close to Derby County's ground so that they can play the club and have a Derby derby!

Nice bit of footie trivia, there!

What about the two Milan clubs who ground-share?

I saw somewhere that they’re just 100 yards apart but that seems ridiculous, surely !?!?!

Liverpool and Everton are about one mile apart

I was once told that there is a football club playing in the English league that play under a name but no such place ?

Do you mean that there is a football club that isn't named after a place name? If that is the case, then I doubt that Arsenal is a place name is it?

In Scotland, I suppose that Rangers doesn't count, not just because they aren't an English club but also because they are known as Glasgow Rangers.

Port Vale might be a good candidate, though they used to have Burslam at the front of the name so you knew where in Stoke they played.
