    Brilliant guy, top songwriter had massive success with his group... The Spiders....
    but then pulled the plug on Ziggy and the Spiders

    big let down for his group who after playing on his LPs and touring
    Britain and America with him .....were suddenly unemployed .

    Mick ronson continued to work with Bowie for a time before joining Mott the hoople for a stint, he also enjoyed some solo success

          I was thinking in a "chicken and egg" sort of way: which came first- Ziggy Stardust or Alvin Stardust? And did the latter name himself after the former?

            THE whole point of glam was cross dressing . and make up
            Alvin always wore leather... with teddy boy sideburns....... could nt be further away from glam

              Bowie is claimed by Brixton ... he must have been born there....

              but at age 6 they moved to Bromley and a rather nice house in the suburbs where David

              spent his childhood

                    I assume that Bernard Jewry as he was originally called, was the second person to call himself Stardust, by virtue of Bowie being a little bit more famous than him?
