Millionaires & Teddybears were a great covers band in Brisbane during the 90's. I was mates with their sound guy and the lighting guy was a young bloke nicknamed Gameboy who went on to become known as Andrew G, the Australian Idol host.

        Re: Brisbane bands

Hi All just joined forum, i lived in brisbane for a few years and was blown away by a band called Dragon the album i bought was Bondi road. every track magnificent. Had the good fortune to see them at brisbane entertainment centre with Elton john . Sadly i believe the lead singer died of throat cancer. what a loss to the music industry So sad for his family as he wasnt that old . despite my limited knowledge of the band ihold them as one of the best ever. Their vidieos were fantastic. Always had wonderful scenery behind them.

There is a song by an aussie out at the same time 189 1990. and the words in his song went Dont give me train rides. the video he was sitting on an open rail carriage singing . can you help with thi song. another happy memory "Tuckers daughter2. yeah it was a song not a personal experience. regards terry

Hi Terry ... Dragon were a great band, although they weren't from Brissy having formed in New Zealand in the early 1970's and then moving to Sydney a few years later. You are right about the death of Marc Hunter though, it was a tragic loss to the local music industry and he was far too young. In my opinion, he was as good a frontman as the other MH, Michael Hutchence was, who coincidentally died only a few months before Marc. Founding member and Marc's brother, Todd Hunter is still involved with Dragon, touring and recording with a new lineup.

The song you are thinking of sounds like Motor's Too Fast by former Australian Crawl singer James Reyne. This song was also recorded by The Chantoozies (featuring James' brother David Reyne) around the same time, though it was retitled Slightest Notion on that release.

Tucker's Daughter was a great song and also brings back memories of 1989 for me. I always preferred Ian Moss's vocals to Jimmy's in Cold Chisel to be honest. Funny this song should get mentioned as yesterday I was actually driving through the plains out at Narrabri

Good morning, thank you for reply to my request re "dont give me train rides" i tried for ages to find out who it was and i'm now sure it was James Reynes version from the info you supplied, many thanks. However i will visit youtube and see if its on there. It was one of those niggly situations where i wouldn't think about it for ages and then could not get the words out of my head for days. Many thanks. By the way forgive my ozzie geography but wheres Narrabi/. I lived in Bethania Waters ,midway between Gold coast and Brisbane city. Still check out Australian news on a weekly basis Via newspapers on internet. Many happy times in your wonderful country.

            Kind Regards

            Terry Foster.

Hi Terry ... I lived at Loganholme back in the 90's, not far from where you lived. Narrabri is in North West NSW, about halfway between Coonabarabran and Moree on the Newell Highway. I was passing through the other day on my way back from Brisbane, had just seen Duran Duran at the BEC in fact, have to say they were outstanding, easily in the top 3 gigs I have been to. I'm off to Sydney next week to see them again, it's like 1983 all over again

                  Re: Brisbane bands

Let's keep one of Brisbane's best bred musicians Robin Gibb in our prayers. He sounds like he's at death's door after being riddled with cancer for several years. :-(

Yes, I read the other day that as well as cancer, he's also suffering from the same congenital bowel disorder that killed his twin brother 9 years ago
