  • 80's Rock Band Stump

Admittedly not many people have heard of them. They got no higher than 72 in the UK Singles chart with their song 'Charlton Heston'.
I first heard them on the John Peel show on Radio 1.
    Well?

This is the promo vid of them which was featured on The Tube (could anyone correct me if I'm wrong)

Here's a link to the rarely seen video for the song 'Chaos':

And here's a link to another of their videos, the one for the song 'Charlton Heston', the only one of their recordings which entered the official pop chart:

      Decent video!

Yeah, I've heard of them- used to get a fair amount of airplay on The John Peel Show. Do you think they could be described as punk??

Stump were a great Captain Beefheart influenced combo from S. Ireland. I saw them
perform around the time of Quirk Out. Top gig.

My mate saw Mick Lynch recently in Dublin, still grinning from ear to ear but here's something a bit more comprehensive from the brilliant rubbery bass player, Kev Hopper, His solo stuff is superb BTW

And this is what Mr Salmon is up to these days.

Admittedly this isn't one of their greatest songs. When I played it at the Link Group in Northwich, Cheshire they thought it sounded as though they were all on drugs

Buffalo is their finest moment IMHO.

Who were all on drugs? Stump or the Link Group in Northwich, Cheshire?

I would say it's more often than not the more mainstream bands who do drugs; Beatles, Rolling Stones etc. Have you ever heard 'True Faith' by New Order? 'Again and again I've taken too much of the things that cost you too much'

As Stump never got higher than number 72 in the singles chart, drugs would probably have been too dear for them.
