  • Raleigh Chipper or Chippo?

This was my first ever bike and it was called either a Chipper or Chippo. Red, I think, with white tyres. Small size as I was about about 6yrs old. This was during the early to mid 70s. I have looked online and searched but don't find any reference or pictures. Think it was Rayleigh. Anybody remember it?

I had always hoped for a Chopper as a boy, thinking about the gear change lever and those high handlebars, and the long set and.... I was very excited when dad said I was going to be given a bicycle...
BUT I ended up with something my parents thought was more sensible. A small, light blue, fixed gear bike with no crossbar. I think it was called a Blue Flyer or some other misnomer. My friends said "that's a girls bike, girly" That coupled with the wide belt with large buckle I used to like wearing did not help my image. Flip!!
That's no golf ball Mr. Solo..
