Oh yes i remember that craze, kids nicking VW badges. Always remember seeing Golfs, Polos, etc with missing badges in their front grill. These badges where 50 quid a pop back then, or so they said on the news at the time.

Remember when if you bought an car with automatic transmission it always had a badge on the back advertising the fact?

Some diesels seemed to had a D onto the model name, same with I for injection.

None stood out particularly but I remember pondering the similarities between the Ford Logo and the Boots logo and being a tad confused about which was what when I was very small.

Most Diesels still have a 'D' somewhere in their badge. My own car has a Diesel injection engine, and an 'HDi' badge on the back. It's also the turbo sport model, but if all this was on the badge, it would stick out beyond the width of the car, and I guess no-one wants the 'TurD' version.
