  • Best & Worst Songs Of the '80s

What do you think they are?

    My picks for best are:

Only A Lad ~ Oingo Boingo
    Institutionalized ~ Suicidal Tendencies
    Roxanne ~ The Police
Add It Up ~ The Violent Femmes
She Blinded Me With Science ~ Thomas Dolby
David Bowie ~ Ashes To Ashes

    Worst:

Too Shy ~ Kajagoogoo, who incidentally had one of the worst band names to go with the awful song.
    Mickey ~ Toni Basil

I'm sure I'll think of others the moment I hit the "submit" button. LOL!

    Best:
    Styx, Show Me the Way
    The B-52's, Love Shack
    Robert Palmer, Addicted to Love
Mike and the Mechanics, The Living Years

    Worst:
Buggles, Video Killed the Radio Star
    M, Pop Musik
    Soft Cell, Tainted Love
Wham!, Wake me up before you go-go

The Wham! song almost sounds like kajagoogoo.

There's too many to mention for both good and bad songs..i still think Joe Dolce was awful and is hard to be beaten in terms of worst song at that time..
Tie a Yellow Ribbon got on your nerves after a while also...

Diamond, I'm unfamiliar with Joe Dolce. Is that a song or a performer?

                      So many to choose from!

Some of my favourites include Owen Paul's cover of "My Favourite Waste of Time", Deacon Blue's "Real Gone Kid", "Down Under" by Men At Work, "Love Shack" by The B52s, "Kayleigh" by Marillion, "Give it Up" by KC and the Sunshine Band, "Together in Electric Dreams" by Giorgio Moroder and Phil Oakey and I always had a soft spot for The Timelords "Doctorin' The Tardis"!

Some horrors are of course Billy Ray Cyrus (Does anyone actually like this now?) and the ghastly Joe Dolce "Shaddap You Face". I liked a lot of Culture Club songs, but I cannot stand "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me". maybe it just got played too much....

Best Songs of the 70's and 80's?

Best Songs ... Too many to list but have to include Another Brick in the Wall by Pink Floyd, anything by Paul Weller and or The Jam (except Aunties and Uncles which definately goes down as duff!) anything by Van Morrison and Madness - The Chicken Song from Spitting Image .... ok it's weird but I like it.

                        Worst ....
                        Agadoo
                        The Birdy song
                        Micky - Toni Basil

There are more but I have steam coming out of my ears from all that thinking - well at my age ....

                            Quite possibly.

Although my father quite liked it, especially the accompanying video!

                              best and worst of 80's

I will never forget as long as I live the travesty that was shaddup you face by Joe Dolce, it kept vienna by Ultravox off the no 1 spot. I will never forgive the record buying british public for that! I couldn't possibly post all my favs from the 80's too many and varied.
