    Re: Colecovision Game System

I remember this system. Although I only played it on a shop demonstration (Woolworths(?)), it was awesome compared to the other systems. Light years ahead of Atari 2600. It was a pity this system did not take off. The game I played was something like Battleships. Two players went against each other. Each player had one Battleship, one Submarine and a host of other ships, including a Minelayer and Minesweeper. The object was to sink your opponents Battleship. The range of fire was different with each vessel used. You could also deploy mines in the sea. If you were not careful, you could sink your own ships with these. You could also sink your own ships if you grounded them. Great game. It was like playing in the arcades without spending money.
Who cared about rules when you were young?

Coleco made a lot of effort with this system, especially by including Donkey Kong with them.

They were unlucky that the American Video Game Crash stopped them from being more successful.
