School Sex Education Slide Show 1970-71 Where do Babies Come From?

Sex Education in 1970-71 was a slide show of hand-drawn pictures of 'Mummys and Daddys'. I think it was called 'How Babies are Made" or similar. I'd have been 10.
I still don't know the answer.

In my 50s today it sounds ever so quaint, I'm sure I'd smile to see it again.
I've looked on Youtube to see what it was I saw back then. I have searched and I think this is a still. Not sure. Anyone confirm?

Anyone know how to see the whole thing?

Which i think is a TV programme and hence the still. What I saw was a slide-show.

I just remember in sex ed we were shown to rabbits bonking. Most of us lads in the class I was in learnt more from Jaquie behind the bike shed lol

For us it was Kathleen or Judith. We were all about 9-10. It was always their idea too!

No, this was a slide-show I recall being herded together to be shown in the 'projector-room' in school. I recall it as very er... medical. Illustatrations I think. About as far away from getting any real clue as possible
I'm sure I'd gaffaw at it now, but would love to see what I saw back then.

Have a great day, guys! I agree that sex education is very important! The kids need to understand the risks and have a proper attitude about sex. Thanks to the internet, kids are growing fast, so if we don't educate them properly, porn sites will do their job about it. Today are many pornsites with big auditory like pornhub, XVideos, sex4arabxxx.com, and we need to control our kids before they start the watch and educate themselves with porn, its nothing wrong with porn, but the better way to educate them BEFORE.

There always seemed to be two sorts of schools programmes for different levels of understanding the "birds and the bees" - Primary and Secondary. The Grampian TV series Living and Growing comes to mind which went on for years with even Sarah "SWs to You" Kennedy presenting a series in the mid 1980s, demonstrating birth by pushing a doll down a pipe, and an embarrassed old man saying "erection" all the time.

You can tell which generation watched these programmes as the subject of Sex Education often came under Science because of Human Biology (and even Zoology to make comparisons with other organisms) - by the late 1980s it more or less came under PSE or PSHE due to the introduction of the Education Reform Act 1988 giving birth to (no pun intended) the National Curriculum. It could even come under Citizenship as well these days.

I think that I have still got a block of schools programmes recorded from BBC 2's Learning Zone predecessor "Night School" from 2.00 am in around 1995 with subtitles for the audially challenged - I might have seen some of it on YT a few years ago. Cue female presenter narrating over cartoon illustration of naked male and female humans, referring to what happens when the male gets excited when in bed and all that. Ironic that it was shown at 2.00 am considering the content. I think that it was aimed at Years 5-6.

Later on the same tape, there was a couple of more "liberal" approach documentaries aimed at 14 to 16-year-olds that seemed to have been first TX in around 1991-1992 - boy meets girl and goes out with him to the cinema - they finish it after a few weeks but they remain friends, etc. Vox pops in the street about how they knew about the facts of life with a 50 year old saying that he learned it from watching animals in the farmyard. And a theatre company visiting Year 10s at a school who probably didn't look older than 18 themselves, with a t-shirt and jeans male member of the group getting it all on with a blow-up doll.

As they were schools programmes, they passed the test - mind you, it reminds me of Matthew Cartwright's embarrassment in the Series 5 Grange Hill episode, especially Gripper reading "in the public region..." which was a decade before.
