Does anyone remember banjo chocolate bars they were like drifters but had no caramel in them?

I remember them from the 70's. (they were originally called Trophy) There were two fingers of wafer with a layer of crushed hazelnuts, covered in chocolate. And if I remember right, there was an advert with a woman on a trapeze??

I loved banjo bars, they came in a blue wrapper and a red wrapper, cant remember why, maybe plain and milk.

Part of the advert went. Banjos, new Banjos, banjos are brand new, light and crispy wafer , roasted peanuts too.

Didn't they have to change it because of trophy bitter?

I remember taking them to playschool pre-september 1982.

One of Alan Patridge's ideas for a programme was a History Of Chocolate, with a profile of Banjo's finding out what went wrong with the brand.

I remember the advert use to annoy me somewhat, because of the guys overacting when he went to bite the banjo, and the girls face looked so silly with blonde hair and dark red cheeks,as if the make up department had gone doo lally on her face.

Banjo chocolate was made by Mars. I remember it well in the eighties. It was delicious! Recently found out they used to have another flavour in a Maroon wrapper which was toasted coconut (gutted I never tried that one). Wish they would bring this chocolate back. There is a Facebook page called Bring Back Banjo chocolate which needs support in bringing it back.
