  • Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band

Fronted by Neil Innes and Vivienne Stanshalle The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band started off as a traditional jazz band before rapidly changing their style into a comedy music act, complete with explosions and pyrotechnics (courtesy of Roger Ruskin Spear). In the late sixties they featured on Thames TVs "Do not Adjust Your Set". Despite having recorded a few LPs they only had real chart success with their single "I'm the Urban Spaceman". LPs were "Tadploes" "Gorilla" "Keynsham" "The Doughnut in Grannies Greenhouse" & "Let's Make Up and Be Friendly" - the last one featuring Vivianne Stanshalles. "Sir Henry Rawlinson" was later made into a full long player in it's own right as well as a book and a film. Sadly Vivienne Stanshalle died a while back. Neil Innes continued to write music most notably for Monty Python and somewhat less notably wrote and narrated the Raggy Dolls - a childrens TV programme. Various other members went onto play with Bob Kerrs Whoopee Band. Most recently there has been a few reunion concerts with a some of the original band members plus, rather curiously, Stephen Fry in the line up.
