  • The DYR Time Capsule

Please put in one item from your childhood, that you wouldn't like to see forgotten or lost to time.

I place a photograph of My pedigree Chatter Chimp, with a full item discription on the back

Of Course it does not have to be a toy, Maybe an item of clothing, a book, comic, collectable, sweets or music record.......

    What a great thread!

I have a really cool Barbie doll that I was bought when I was 5 - she is dressed very funky, the height of 80's fashion with a fuschia pink bolero and stilleto's and a tight mini-dress. Shows the fashion of the time, and what little girls played with.

Saying that, I also think a famiily photo album would be a good idea. Pics that my gran has of when my mum was growing up, pics from my childhood and also pics of my family. Show them the 3 generations!

I'm putting in my Raleigh Grifter (hope this is a big time capsule!). They don't make bikes like that any more. As if it wasn't heavy enough already I had mine kitted out with a wing mirror, visibility flag thing and a couple of PG tips collector cards cellotaped to the forks so that they poked through the spokes and made a (sort of) motorbike noise.

After much deliberation, I'm going for the first famous five annual (Five Go Adventuring Again) I received from Grandma at Christmas 1978.

I still have it to this day.

For me it would have to be Dinah - my beloved black doll and as a tribute to the early sixties ( my growing up era) a necklace of 'poppet beads' simple highly coloured plastic beads that 'popped' together.

i was five at the time.

very special to me it is.

this was a very hard choice.

it may not be worth much money wise but it is to you in a sentimental way.
                              when did you get yours.
