Remember the days when this used to happen, so exciting!
Phone would start ringing ,newsreader would look at camera , say "Excuse me" and then pick it up.
At this point your parents would turn up TV and shush you and listen to the one-sided conversation.
Finally the reader would look back at cameras and state "The news has just broken that .........."
It never happens now with Autocue etc but at the time you felt like it was instant news and you were there when it happened.
