  • Stairway to Heaven

When I was 10 I remember hearing this song on my transistor radio late at night lying in bed. Needless to say, Led Zeppelin became one of my favorite bands of all time. I didn't know it was Led Zeppelin until 1975.

Many Zep fans think "Stairway" is for the casuals.
(This is a bit insulting as I'm younger than you!)
Although I have been a fan for twenty years.

I worked in a pub/disco back in the 80s. There was a band called Far Corporation who released a cover version of Stairway To Heaven that made the UK charts in 1985 and our dj actually played it. I took the Led Zeppelin IV album in and made him play the real version. Bliss, sheer bliss!

How about the Rolf Harris version?

First time I heard it was an instrumental version with Page on the double neck at the ARMS concert. Discovering it had lyrics ruined it a bit for me.

Frank Zappa's version for the win!
