  • Best Backing Vocals?

Gladys Knight and the Pips - Midnight Train to Georgia
Great backing right through the song, including the great line Superstar - But he didn't get far! and the "Woo-Woos" of the train!

Captain & Tenille - Love Will Keep Us Together
A classic 70s song written by Neil Sedaka
The backing vocals were double tracked by Tenille and are superb.
Listen carefully near the end and she sings "Sedaka is Back!"

Tracey Ullman - They Don't Know
Kirsty MacColl provides wonderful, subtle backing. This is a fantastic song.
I go back to the original Jethro Tull - Yes! The seed drill inventor!

Agree about Tracy Ullman's 'They Don't Know'. Brilliant piece.

How about Helen Terry? I think her amazing work on early Culture Club albums played a large part in making them so successful.

I liked the Fabulous wealthy tarts. Paul Youngs music wouldn't have been the same without them.

When they sing I get a strong urge to drop to one knee and propose to them...

Right - this is a bit off topic but still connects to backing vocals.

I was on about this early this year ( sounding off down the pub ) , Judge Dread was on TOTP once in mid to late seventies and his backing singers were Rod Stewart , Elton John and David Essex.

I definitely saw this but nobody else seems to remember it - - anybody please know anything about it?
