A few week ago I had , according to my statistics, 897 posts.

I've done a good few more since then and today I thought "I'll just see how many I've got now to find out how far till I get a thousand"

Lo and behold I'm down to 876.

This has happened before on here where old threads get deleted, fair enough you can't let forums get choked up, but it affects users status

Is there no other way this can be recorded so like your running total is held on another section, then even if deletes happen it dont affect your count?

    Re: Vanishing posts

The only threads that have been deleted lately are spam and disruptive threads, discussions that have been sorted out to get topics back on track.
All post reporting spam are also deleted along with the spam itself.

I will ask if there is anyway post counts can remain uneffected by this process but as you say forums do need a clean up from time to time.

I'll get back to you on this one

      Admins reply:

Unfortunately there is definitely no way for me to maintain the post count when posts are deleted. It's a fundamental automated part of the of the software that runs the forum and can't be changed.

      Sorry
