  • The "prophetic" movies of the past

Remember the movies that were depicting a "future" world ( mostly around the year 2000 ) were oil was depleted, humanity was almost back in the stone age, and people was fighting in cars who looked like buggies with some junk attached to them? The first movie that immediatly comes to my mind ( and i think the one that started the whole genre of such movies ) is "Mad max". Do you remember other movies that depicted a dark, destroyed ... future world?

Of course the grand-daddy of them all:

            George Orwell's 1984.

May seem like early days but Star Trek Films - a lot of their science, especially from the early films, are beginning to come to pass. Scientists are experimenting with transporters albiet with inanimate objects.

Don't you think that the Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy (the actual device) was the internet before its time? Type in a word.......up comes the info! Just a thought.

2001....be kool if we were travelling the Universe like in the movie, or coming to Childhoods End, but what id the ending mean?

And Tv Space 1999 when i was a kid at school i wondered if the future would be like that, and UFO set in the 1980's never quite looked thta way did it?

Very prophetic considering the "youngsters" who abuse our roads nowadays!
