  • The "joy" of Tank Commander

When I was about 7 or 8 (so 1980 or 81) I was given the game "Tank commander" for my birthday.
The game took place on a long narrow plastic board covered in drawings of trenches, craters and general battleground debris. Each player had about 6 or 7 tanks each, that you placed on a plastic template that fit over the board and could be slid backwards and forwards.
You spun a cardboard spinner and moved your template with your tanks either forward or backwards, if you spun a red square you pulled a cord at your end of the board and plastic pegs would come up through the board and knock your ememies tanks over like mines if his tanks happened to be in the right place !
The ad for the game made it look like the battle of the bulge, in reality is was very, very poor !
