Did anybody have or still use a Personal Didgital Assistant? These were basically hand held computers packed with numerous applications and more could be downloaded from the internet. The main players were Psion (orinally a software house), Palm and Ipaq. Unfortunately these can only be gotten hold of in second hand shops or over the internet.

    Re: Pdas

I remember Psion palm tops being all the rage when I was at college. This was when PC laptops were bulky & £1000+. One of the tutors at college had one & could often be seen tranferring files onto a desktop PC.

My bother got a basic PDA from his then girlfriend's parents for his 21st birthday. He didn't use it much because it got through non-rechargable batteries very fast.

I recall all the staff at one school I taught at being given PDA's to use for admin, registering purposes etc. They didn't last long. They caused more problems than they were useful.

I'd say so. The lines of definition have been blurred - but it fulfills most of the 'classic' criteria (see here)
