Hi I'm new here ! Does anyone remember that newspaper type comic that had all the chart/pop lyrics in ? Early 70's ? It was just song words not a proper magazine really. I saw it on Life on Mars ( last series) but it wasn't close up enough to see what it was called - it's doing my head in !!!!!!!!
I remember singing the words to SLIK ( yes that's how old I am...!) I love You Forever and Ever from it !

    Thanks

      Disco 45

I used to get Words and Disco 45. Disco 45 was the bigger seller and gave away things like Iron-on-transfers..a staple of 70's magazines

could have been "Look in" that was going for ages and if i remember correctly, they did have song lyrics in. In the Eighties of course, it was Smash Hits, but 70's I'd go for look in.

                Forever And Ever Lyrics

As it was in the beginning then so should it end
Don't let a lover become just a friend
                oh no.
I made you a promise I vowed I would keep
The candle 's still burning the river runs deep
                my love
                Didn't you know
                didn't you feel
Couldn't you tell that it was real
Couldn't you tell that it was real.
I'll dedicate to you all my love my whole life through
I'll love you forever and ever ev'ry day ev'ry hour we share
I'll treasure you I swear I'll love you forever and ever.
                What we joined together
                let none tear apart
We give one another our hand and our heart
                my love
                Ashes to ashes
                dust to dust
Will love last forever I know that it must
                my love
                Now you can see
                now you can feel
Now you can tell that it was real
Now you can tell that it was real.
I'll dedicate to you all my love my whole life through

                        Music Mags - 70s

                        Evening All,

OK, I'm mid forties (thanks for the birthday reminder the other week DYR) and to cut a long one short, I'm remembering 70's music magazines. I used to get Popswop regularly when I could. At £0.03 per issue, it was a challenge, until Mam & Dad agreed to add it to the paper bill. It sounds daft now, but thrupence for a comic was a bit steep! Anyone remember Music Star? I think it first came out in about 71/72?
My sister got an early issue with lots of David Cassidy and Donny Osmond pics. It was 7 pence though, so she couldn't get a regular gig! Could be wrong, but I reckon the first issue had the lyrics (songwords) to "Solid Gold Easy Action". Anyone confirming?
Does anyone remember a mag called "It's Here And Now"? I reckon it was always a bit out of my price range until summer. In July/August, we usually had a week at the coast. A bit of extra holiday money, combined with the publications' "Summer/Holiday Special" rip off edition! Was "Disco 45" a mag consisting mainly of "songwords" with no colour pics?
I'm sure ther were other publications. Anyone else got suggestions?

I used to get disco 45 from time to time but my main ones were Smash Hits and Look-in.

I read a propper music rag!

I went to see lots of bands at the Apollo, Manchester too including the rather manical chap on this front cover who is Dan McCafferty of Narareth.

Bring me not your 'Disco 45's' and your 'Popswops' for these are not REAL music papers.

Agreed, but I was only about seven or eight at the time. Popswop actually merged with Record Mirror later, which I continued to read. NME and Sounds were real music papers but not really in the kid's market.
