  • The singing ringing tree

Does anyone remember the singing ringing tree back in 60/70's it was a weird childrens programme that had a princess, a white horse,a bear in a cave and a nasty dwarf....... oh, and a poor old big fish.......
I don't think it was an English programme.

No problem, I don't remember it myself but every time I mention it my wife has a funny turn and says "oohh no, it was horrible!!"

The fast show did a parody of it a few years ago, I think I watched once on BBC2 during the school summer holidays, I wasn't scared of it I just couldn't make head nor tail of it !

I remember this a little - something about a princess, a bridge and a prince, and of course the tree which tinkled. It was Czech or similar, and filmed in b&w I think (maybe I'm confusing it with the Judderman advert). Wish I could remember more of the story. I recently found a copy of it on ebay and was sorely tempted. Can anyone remind me of the story?

                The singing ringing tree

Riveting foreign programme with dubbed actors, had a hairy person / thing in it, used to un-nerve me somewhat, but good programme!

                            Re: Singing Ringing Tree

Thank you to the BBC for scaring the Bejeezuz out of me when I was little.

What were they thinking of with the Singing Ringing Tree? Evil Dwarves, a huge gold fish and a man-bear (who could so knock seven bells out of Bungle!).

                            I'm scarred forever!

It has to be said that once seen as a child, never forgotten!
It had everything though, horror, magic, romance.
It was a brilliant children's story, I think.
