  • uk tv chocolate advert from the 70`s- treets ?

i think it was for treets and the memory (as normal) is a bit patchy

i seem to recall it was in black and white (either that or it was still when we had a black and white set at home )
it was all about how the sweets wouldnt melt in your hand
i think it may have been a class of kids involved most of the group were eating this product so there was no trace but someone was caught eating a sweet because they had chocalate on their hands im sure "caught red handed" had something to do with it and the persons hand glowed

anyone out there remember this advert and what it was for
its another one of those things that i have stored in me head that i have no answer for

      Extra information may help,

TREATS were bought in a yellow packet like m&ms, they were like minstrals only bigger,

An advert i recall had someone give treats to a magician wearing white gloves, to show they didn't melt.

      The wording was something like

" smooth milk chocolate in a crisp candy coating " and

" Treats milk chocolates melt in your mouth not in your hand "

Didn't Maltesers use the same '...melt in your mouth...' slogan too?

Just for clarification - Treats were like the peanut M&Ms

I pretty sure Minstrels were the only brand that used the "melt in your mouth, not in your hand" slogan.

The advert I remember is a woman behind a man on the seat of a pushbike, she is eating minstrels, he has a bright white t-shirt, he brakes suddenly and she puts her hand on his t-shirt, then there is a close up to show that she didn't leave a chocolate stain on his t-shirt with her hand.

Edit: that'll be the one then, posted at the same time!

That's cheeky. No wonder people get confused between Minstrels, Treets and M&Ms.

I'm pretty sure it was Treets that had that slogan.

Depends what age you are. By the 1980's it wasn't used for Treets but it was used for Minstrels, so melt in your mouth not in you hand will only ever be Minstrels to me.
