  • Did you learn a new skill or get up to anything unusual during the pandemic?

With lockdown restrictions starting to be relaxed and a glimmer of light at the end of the Covid tunnel, I thought it was worth reflecting on how people's behaviour may have changed during this weirdest of times.

With most of us suffering from lockdown ennui and in danger of going stir crazy, what did you do to keep yourselves sane and help time to pass?

Apart from OD'ing on Prime Video, Netflix and the Xbox, I can think of three things that I probably wouldn't have done, if the pandemic hadn't happened:

    1) I treated myself to a banjolele and can now play a few songs, finger-picking style (but I haven't started to resemble that kid from Deliverance yet).

    2) Both my wife and myself decided to break our tattoo virginity and, as soon as the first lockdown ended, we headed to the first tattoo shop to open. I got a Vegvisir on my shoulder and my wife plumped for a Shalom and Dove of Peace on her forearm.

    3) Decided I wanted to do a little surfing so, when day-trips were permitted again, we headed to the South coast and I tried my hand at bodyboarding. It was great fun and I will strive to progress to full-on surfing when I can.

Recently treated myself to a cheap roll-out silicon electronic piano keyboard too.
I can now play any song you like - provided it's House of the Rising Sun!

I decided it would be fun to learn how to Handstand and hold it for a few seconds, it's more difficult than I thought but I'm doing progress. As a developer, I'm also learning a new programming language, I always wanted to find the time to code a Gameboy Simulator. It's great to have a perfect occasion for bettering ourselves.
