The others were Bullet to beijing and midnight in st petersburg made in the 90s for tv but not based on Len deighton novels... your up Staffslad.

I think I am right in saying that in Deighton's novels the spy is never named, certainly not in Ipcress, Berlin and Brain.

I think it was 5. Ipcress File, Funeral in Berlin, Billion Dollar Brain, then 2 more in 80s/90s which I can't remember the names. Also recommend Deighton's novels of the first 3--very dour reads with nicely twisty plots.

Harry was a very under rated actor. Enjoyed him in both Ice Cold In Alex and the Hill.

Harry Andrews it was. Agree about The Hill being a superb film. Ice Cold in Alex is another very good film. Both have wonderful casts at the top of their game. Sylvia Sims in Ice Cold in Alex--what a beauty she was.
