What is the fate for Alex in Bargain In death

    1. Five men in an office block board a lift that takes them to the sub-basement rather than stopping at ground. The sub-basement is decorated as a club and when the lift door shuts the men find there is no button to recall the lift.

    2. Maitland, Sebastian, Arthur, Harold, Moore.

    3. Anna Massey...married to Daniel Massey at the time.

    4. Jasmine or Jasmina Hilton...can't recall which.

    5. When the coffin is opened in the graveyard, Maitland jumps out, terrifying the two medical students. They run onto a road. Alex is driving his car and swerves to avoid them, crashing and killing him. The guy who did the graverobbing was Arthur Mullard, who had a substantial role in Holiday on the Buses.

This was on Horror Channel fairly recently and I also have the novelisation.

Sorry for confusing posts staffslad. I tried to change one question after edit time had elapsed. I have put a suggestion to Admin to lengthen the edit time.

My mistake. So sorry. Ackland played Neville Rogers.

I will accept the Freddie Francis one. It was an American film that just happened to fall thru. A big blow for his career he would have felt.

    Excised all together.

Sorry to say it was not the great Cush mate and why was Francis not available?

I'm puzzled about Cushing. Who was it who played Grayson?

Francis was contracted to direct something else--can't remember exactly what, but it fell through in the end.

In my opinion, humourous segments should be relegated to the middle of a film, or better yet, excised altogether.

    2. It was based on a short story by Robert Bloch, author of Psycho. Think it was published in Weird Tales, though not certain of that.

    3. It bears the likeness of a girl they both were smitten with many years before.

    4. The great Peter Cushing.

    5. I think he was unavailable due to other commitments.

The House that Dripped Blood is a great title, but I don't think the segments quite live up to it. For me, the highlight is Sweets to the Sweet. I think it was an error to end with The Cloak, a rather humourous tale, but since the detective was investigating the disappearance of Paul Henderson, it had to be the last.

Trivia: Carleton Hobbs, who played the doctor in Sweets to the Sweet, was Sherlock Holmes on the radio for many years for the BBC.
