Countdown started in the late-60s, but really gained popularity in the 70s. It featured comic strip renderings of popular children's shows, sci-fi, action dramas etc, such as UFO, Dr Who, The Persuaders. It originally had kids' interest science features, ie.model aircraft, rockets (hence Countdown) and later changed its name to Countdown And TV action, then plain TV Action. The illustrations were superbly drawn and very exciting for a sci-fi hungry 10-year-old!
