Around in the 80s and 90s, the The Band was fronted by Matt Johnson. Their album, Soul Mining, contained the hit 'This Is The Day'. The band wasn't really mainstream, but was extreemly cool and still has a cult following by those tortured souls who can relate to the serious bluesy anthems of social despair and frustration of living in the modern world. Soul Mining was followed by 'Infected' in about 1985, containing the tracks: Infected, Slow Train To Dawn, among others. Then came 'Mind Bomb', now featuring Johnny Marr (of The Smiths) on guitar. 'The Beaten Generation' was a popular single. The 'Dusk' album followed, which was a masterpiece of urban disaffection.
