Oasis, Blur & in particular R.E.M. were terrible.
Horrible singers & boring unoriginal songs.

However, I can agree on The Beautiful South, The Pixies & The Manics.

In my humble opinion, the best (well known) British band of the 90s was Pulp, but the best band overall was probably Fugazi.

Manic Street Preachers were the best band of the 1990s, but unfortunately the worst band of the 2000s.

Couple of bands like the Pixies and Dinosaur Jr who were active in both 80's/90's were amazing.

The Eels were and are an incredible band. Beautiful Freak is one of my all time favourite albums. The Manics were great in the 90's, especially the Holy Bible.

    Therapy were another great band!
Pretty much what he said. Although I'd add REM, Low and My Bloody Valentine to the list.

    ^ Frazier Chorus.

Great underrated act, featuring chief songwriter, Tim Freeman brother of Martin Freeman (Tim from The Office, Dr Watson, Bilbo etc) and also Creation record boss, Alan McGee's wife.

Obviously, this is a matter of taste, so we all have different '90s favourites, but for the record, here are mine...

    The Beautiful South
    Mojave 3
Frazier Chorus (on the cusp of the '80s/'90s)
    The Candyskins
    Saint Etienne

Damn. How could I forget Stereolab too. I have loved them since seeing them on The Word playing French Disco. I've bought tons of their vinyl release since. Interstingly, Broadcast released a single on the
    Stereolab's Duophonic Super 45s label.

And also an honorary mention for the underrated oddball popsters, David Devant And His Spirit Wife

Placebo - favourite 90's band for me

Suede - should be a good upcoming gig

Marilyn Manson - pity everybody believed the hype, wrote some good lyrics especially Coma White
