I was thinking about Christmas 1985 when I got a yellow Tom and Jerry alarm clock and a blue Postman Pat lamp (both of which were placed on top of my bedside table throughout 1986 and perhaps later) - I also vaguely remember the TV on Christmas morning and Matthew Corbett and Sooty visiting kids in a Great Ormond Street-alike children's ward in hospital and giving them Sooty soft toys (bigger than Sooty himself, ironically enough), but funnily enough old TV listings give no such programme for that year. False memory, I assume...
It was also the final year that I went to the top floor of the Co-op to see Father Christmas and I can even remember what the girl in front of me wanted! I think it was the Monday after we broke up from school and we saw a Care Bears or other cartoon film at either the Odeon or the ABC. And Shaky was number one as well.

Od course it was the Prsents and Toys etc, but my memories of Xmas Childhoods in the main is the Telly:, Roland Rat etc in the 80s on his adventures and other progs like Duppledown Farm -- when Xmas Kids Telly went on all Morning , like Sat and Sun Kids Telly used to ... sadly we'll never have those times again 9but yeah the memories) indeed for certain

Pity that most of the churches are closed at the moment.

It sort of made it feel a lot more special then what it is now.

But yes, Her Majesty has always been there at 3.00 pm on Christmas Day. Didn't take too much notice when I was younger, but these days, I have glass of sherry in hand before the Christmas dinner while watching it.

Here it'd be either squirrels or a woodpecker we can't seem to scare off long...
We had some exposure to the Sinter Klaus and his now un-PC sidekick from the Netherlands side of the family. It was worth it to put up with all that for the stroopwaffels and speculas biscuits though!
