Can anyone remember when first colour TV programmes started transmitting,there were some great test films that used to air,one i remember was about a Saturn 5 rocket being moved by the crawler transport to the launchpad,i would love to see these films somewhere on line,can anyone help? PS there was also one about the process of making a television tube and the three colours used to produce all the colours ,was very interesting at the time!

Sorry,i don't remember these short films.Wonder if they were a regional thing.

Where we lived, we could get HTV West and Westward on our Ferguson Courier black and white portable. I can't remember whether those Where On Earth films appeared on HTV West only, Westward only or both. Being as I never saw any other ITV service (Southern, ATV, Border, Tyne Tees etc) I've no idea whether or not those regions showed those Where On Earth films.

They were short films (about 5 minutes each) which got shown lunchtimes / afternoons on ITV in the mid to late 1970s. After the opening sequence a caption would appear WHERE ON EARTH followed by the rest of the question underneath, and a male voice spoke the same question as the words appeared on screen. One example was "Where on Earth is Old Macdonald?".

I was only a kid at the time, and didn't take much notice of the content of these films. Does anyone else remember these short films which were shown on ITV in the 1970s?
