This is an incredible long shot, but does anyone remember a BBC Series set in (roughly) the 1800s about a young lady called Sofia (maybe Sophia) that had fallen in love with a young man, but for some reason they were prevented from being together and the story was about their struggle to stay in contact. Sorry there isn't more detail, but I've been looking through long lists of BBC dramas from that period and nothing jumps out at me.
