Children tv show from the 80's/90's

I do not remember the name of this show but I do remember that it wasn't animated and was set in a library or book shop. There was a magic scanner/photocopier thing and these children would scan a book and a bright light would flash and they would be transported into the story where they had to solve problems or save the world or whatever.
I can't remember the name and it's driving me insane. has been for years.
Does anyone else remember this show?
