I need help trying to find out about a TV Prog from 1991

I think it might have been on BBC1 and I think it was set in a scrap-yard/car-crushers yard. All iIcan really think I can imagine about it was that there was a a man in it in his late 40s/early 50s and he a slight resemblence to the guy who played Tommy Horton (Duckworth's) Grandad in Coronation Street in the mid 90s-early 00's

It was quite a gritty programme and about the owner struggling to make ends meet and I am unsure if it ran for only 1 or 2 Series

Something makes me think/tells me that Karen Brady (of West Ham and Birmingham Football Clubs and The Manger-ess TV Programme fame) was involved too as she was in everything going in that era - though I am really unsure on that she was in this
