70s lunchtime/ afternoon thriller

Sorry for another post but also need some help on this one.

Again could be 70s or 80s, lunchtime / afternoon thriller / detective series, British lasting around 1 hour I think.

Featured a married couple who solved mysteries, quite comical as well, and I think may have had House in the title or evolved around their house, may be wrong on this point.

Middle aged couple the man has definitely been in plenty of other things.

Sorry to be so vague, any any help gratefully received.

Hmmm, a series I thoroughly enjoyed springs straight to mind when I read your synopsis - but it is more recent that the date you gave....

The office is in the couples home and she befriends a local 'teenage tearaway' to help her with investigations.

My first thought was "Partners in Crime", based on the Agatha Christie "Tommy and Tuppence" stories, but they weren't middle-aged.

Was it a contemporary setting or a period thing?

Sorry to be so vague but all I can remember is coming home lunchtime from school, I must have been early teens so would make it late 70s / early 80s, I guess around 12.30 - 1 and I think it was on ITV. Was definitely British, (although I enjoyed Hart to Hart and especially McMillan and Wife).

I plot generally centered around a middle aged couple 40s I guess who each week would solve crimes / mysteries. The chap had very fair hair bordering on grey.

I thing the title sequence featured the house or the door to their house in some way, may be wrong on this point.

Although a serious series there were elements of humour in it.

I have tried to identify the actor as well but can not trace him.

Please please help as I would love to identify this series and perhaps watch it again.

I think by complete chance I have found it.

"The Wilde Alliance"

May have got the times wrong or maybe it was repeated at a different time.

nice find...yeh it was originally on at 9pm, every Tuesday for 13 episodes, 1978

I think you're talking about Wilde Alliance. I also have very vague memories of this series
