  • The Odessa File deserves a mention.
Crackingly festive intro courtesey of Perry Como, Jon Voight starred and a warning about standing too close to edge of the platform on the underground

  • Superb!
The question of attire could be interesting.
I'd need to source a couple of authentic 70's long syrups to compensate for my lack of hair, one on and one in the wash.
Anybody else brings their own ...

Ah well, perhaps there's a niche in the market for a selection of risque ice creams and lollies?
    The mind boggles!...

  • Sheringham is way up on my list of places to revisit when circumstances allow. Cromer brings back happy memories, there was a fishmonger in the town, he used to sell the kids bags of scraps/offcuts of fresh fish to use as bait for crab fishing off the pier. 10P a bag but it kept us occupied for ages,...

Funny Feet were simply another Wall's body part ice cream if I can put it that way. Having just had a quick google it seems that they've been relaunched and are available from Iceland.
After my second coffee when I'm just that little bit more compos mentis I'll have another look....

I used to be rather partial to a Funny Face, quite tasty and a certain novelty value too!...

  • First and foremost check my emails, then the news. Having got the essentials out of the way it's time to browse a few select football forums. There's always time for a bit of window shopping of course, a Fantic Chopper 125 and an E- type Jag typically being in the virtual shopping basket.

  • Bought one of the last small disposable barbeques on display in Asda this morning. We'll be digging out the railcard and visiting a quiet beach just to the west of Brighton within the next few days. I've been considering packing some fishing tackle in the rucksack, sadly it seems that Asda don't stock...

  • I'm glad you mentioned the Record Mirror. I like to think that I'm blessed with a good memory, not always the case. My dad used to go for a stroll on a Sunday morning to the newsagents, sod all else open in those days! I'd usually get my copy of Cor! and Whizzer and Chips. I'd sometimes get a Record...

From a distance they can have a certain charm, on train journeys many moons ago we used to refer to them as striding giants. On a darker note I remember hearing how a family friend lost a loved one. The young lad took it upon himself to use a pylon as a climbing frame. He was electrocuted and caused...

  • Pretty grim Kajagoogoo type hair styles.

The various makes of personal cassette players becoming smaller and actually compact.

There were plenty more independent retailers knocking about and a few bargains to be had on some of the market stalls.....no ebay!

  • On the subject of Ry Cooder I picked up a copy of Southern Comfort - 1981 very recently.
Terrific film, would love to take a trip to visit those swamps...not likely this year.

  • The Top of the Pops compilations (vinyl) were quite affordable. I think they used to churn them out to keep up with the charts of the time, there must have been quite a market for them.
The first compilations with original artists as I rembember were from K-tel around 1973. Twenty original hits...

I think to say that it makes for laid back listening would be an understatement.
Thouroughly enjoyed it and I'll be listening to more. ...

  • About three years ago I received a call from a woman advising me that there were issues with my internet/broadband and that she was an employee of Microsoft.
Straight off the cuff I told her that I that I had the number she was calling from and that I'd be contacting Microsoft.
    I don't think...

I'm intrigued, the willow pattern thing rings a bell. I'm sorry I can't shed any light, it's a very vague memory.
