  • Chips

As far as I am concerned, no chips could beat my Mum's / Dad's homemade chips, made wih real spuds in a deep fat fryer! Especially when served with fried eggs! Does anyone still make real chips???

Thats because they were real chips, and tasted far superior. We have them as a treat and make scollops too, yummy.

My parents still make homemade chips in the pan, and there's nothing better as far as I'm concerned ! Covered in salt and drenched in vinegar lol - Yum!

Sounds really yummy Ruby, egg and chips is a classic meal, especially with a runny egg to dip your chips in, and add a sausage too, mmmmmmm. I used to put ketchup or brown sauce into/on my yolk, thought iI was making a new flavour to dip with, silly me, yummy though and with a slice of bread and butter heaven.

                Chips

Oggy how can you NOT be into chip butties??? Utter heaven (second only to fish finger butties)!

I must admit, it has been YEARS since I last tasted a home-made chip. I love the fact that they're all different shapes and sizes, unlike frozen chips (urgh).

Perfect meal - homemade chips, two fried eggs and plenty of slices of nice thick ham. With two slices of buttered white bread. Gimme!!!

                    Sarnies

Hey Momma! Yup, plenty of tomato sauce is THE way to dress a fish finger sarnie. Plus, ideally, the fish fingers need to be grilled (not fried), so that they are nice 'n' crunchy. Heaven!

Chip night was always a big night at home ( as was pancake night ). We had one of those K'tel slicer efforts that cut the entire spud up & into the pan they'd go. Ideal for when friends or cousins were over.

                        Chips

Wow, Aidan, I remember those K-Tel slicer thingies! Mum had one and it scared me - I was frightened that, somehow, my hand would be under it when the plunger was pushed down and my had would be chipped. Unlikely, I know, but when you're a kid.............!

Yep I remember the K-Tel gizmo's too like the new ads on tv now, and they always had records out too, think K-Tel are still going too.

Loved their compilation LPs in the 70s, cool names like Hit Machine, Disco Fever, Hot Tracks etc. & imaginative sleeve designs, unlike your Now123.6 on the go today. Way better tunes then too.
