I suppose that John Cunliffe will be best remembered mostly for the Postman Pat books - they were well written and illustrated. and even when I was older it still felt like I was going on an adventure while reading them. I was obviously one of the first generation of viewers to have seen the series in 1981. We lost Ken Barrie who read the talking book version of the Postman Pat books (I used to borrow them from the local library, copy them onto a C90 and "chill out" playing them on a tape recorder or stereo, and they did really get me to sleep!)

Also, the fact that he presented Rosie and Jim, which just like Rainbow was an ITV children's series seen at 12.10 pm on weekdays has an automatic comparison with the late Geoffrey Hayes that we have also lost as well. It brings a nice touch that the writer of the books also presented their own programme that the books were based on.

      RIP John Cunliffe.

I meant Rosie and Jim here rather than Rag Dolls Darren. I don't know why I put Rag Dolls - just a mistake

Love Rosie & Jim; CBBC or Cbeebies or CITV should re-run all the kids oldies such as Rosie & Jim and the Rag Dolls

Do you really believe the other side without provocation would launch so many ICBM's, subs and ships knowing that we would have no option to launch as well? It would break our MAD Treaty (Mutually Assured Destruction) not to mention the end of the world as we know it.

Sad news. Postman Pat, Rosie and Jim etc have given so much pleasure to so many children over the years. I, too, was a reader of the Postman Pat books, except that I would get them from the library and read them to my cousin's kids when they visited or stayed over back in the 80s. RIP.
