Been loving the re-runs of bullseye, it's even funnier than i remember it, Jim would open the show by walking down the stairs and shaking hands with the audience like he knew them all and then you got his "funny story"....NOT!!...We were than introduced to the "three lovely couples" with the 80s style mullets who in turn would adorn us with a hillarious account of something that happened once as they walked around Kwik save. Jim who regularly struggled to string three words together without getting tongue tied would remind us "you all know the game by now"..."pounds for points"..."thats 3..1..and another 3, that's 7 and takes the first round! for seven pounds who was the first man on the moon?....erm, was it Buzz lightyear Jim? I can pass it over!...erm, Lance armstrong?, it's hillarious non of them could throw a straight dart if their lives depended on it, even the professional darts player goes to pieces under the pressure of potentially scooping 301 pounds for the local donkey sanctuary Then of-course we have Bullys prize board at which you could be taking home a teasmaid or a set of sterling cutlery or even bullys special prize some plastic patio furniture. ..."would you like to gamble the thirty two quid you won against Bullys star prize?...."NO Jim".. "we had a great day we will take what we won thanks" ...."lets bring back Jimmy and June who won eleven quid" Well, well well, who would of thunk it, what would you like to do?..remember if you don't score 101 or more its bendy bully and BFH that's bus fare home we will gamble Jim! "tek yer time, there no rush"....that's 1...7...and that's out the board, unlucky, Jimmy you need 93 or more...3...double 4 and 5...unlucky, let's see what you could have won bring it out boys!..it's a lovely motor boat, where do you live again guys? 23rd floor apple tree court,Brixton ...Can't beat a bit of Bully!! ...Amazing stuff

    Re: Bullseye

I love your synopsis of the show Tex! There was a great one made on the old TV Cream website back in the late 1990s which dealt with every detail of the show.

I have to say that Challenge probably shows it a bit too often, and with no irony intended, I would have liked to see the episodes shown on Sundays at around 5.00 pm just like it was back in the 1980s. Jim Bowen was indeed the face of Sunday afternoons (evenings in the winter months), and was just as much a Sunday ITV face as Harry Secombe was.

The star prizes were rather implausible to the punters who won them - those in Walsall won speedboats; those on the Isle of Wight (TVS region back then of course) got exotic holidays, where I think that the two should have swapped prizes. A couple won the car and neither of them could drive, while someone from Brixton was close to winning a weekend in London - I think that the researchers should have done their homework when it came to the relevance the prize was to the contestant. It's a bit like the Paul O'Grady version of Blind Date - if you want to see implausible prizes; they sent a same sex couple off to a country where homosexuality is illegal - it wouldn't have happened in Cilla Black's day for all the obvious reasons which I won't go into on here.

Also, as I lived just a couple of miles from the Lenton Lane studios, I used to think that the BFH catchphrase was ironic for obvious reasons as it was indeed a bus fare ride from the studios if one lives in Nottingham.
I've everything I need to keep me satisfied

    I'm having so much fun

Hmm...so just watched two more episodes and in the first one on Bullys prize board number 7 was a 14" colour tv, but on the second show the same tv was Bullys "special prize"
Clearly somethings afoot and i shall be writing to my MP for answers!!!
