  • Cadbury's Skippy

Cadbury's Skippy was a long wafer biscuit covered with Cadbury's chocolate and contained a hard chewy strip of toffee within the centre of the wafer. The packaging for Cadbury's Skippy was blue with distinctive red and yellow writing. It was really chewy!

Maybe a slightly earlier or later wrapper than the one the OP described.

I remember those. I much preferred them to other wafer-based treats (such as those pink fingers...) as they had a lot more substance and it felt like you were really eating something.

Yes, pink wafer fingers. Haven't seen them for a fair while, but that's probably because I'd never buy them for myself.
I recall them mainly in biscuit assortments, when the were usually among the last taken.
See here for a rather bizarre illustration (family and work safe)

Probably late 60's, but could have been a repeat in the early 70's: I remember eating a Skippy while watching Skippy (the bush kangaroo) on TV.

Don't remember trying one of these. Sounds like half a Drifter though.

I only went for "rather bizarre": when have you ever seen a bird on a biscuit for real?
(quite cute though the sculptures are...)
