  • What celebrities did you meet from the 70's, 80's and 90's?

I was working as a temp for BT in 1989 and one of my office colleagues was best mates with the late Kenny Everette. My colleague also worked in a bar that Kenny frequented and I got a (brief!) spell in the same pub as a bar-boy. He introduced me to Kenny one night and he was really charming and took the p*ss out of my Glasweigan accent....but all in the best possible taste! What celebs have you met and how did you find them? Were they nasty or nice...come on be honest! It's not like they're gonna sue you.......or will they??!!

Trev & Si were great. Swing those pants. I remember em taking the mick out of Sam Brown calling her Bobby Brown.

The two most recent i've met (through my job) are Patrick Stewart. He was an absolute gent. Really down to Earth and signed an autograph for one of my colleagues. The other is not so famous, Nichola Dixon, the one with dark bobbed hair that was on the ITV bingo night live show and I also saw her as a reporter in the first episode of Spooks code 9. She was really friendly and chatted about the show. I mentioned that i saw alot of late night tv as i have a baby and she said her brother was in the same boat. She asked me if i'd played and wished me good luck. What a lovely lady and very pretty too.

seen a few from afar, but only one I've ever 'properly' spoken to was Johny Briggs aka Mike Baldwin from Coronation Street

I sold him a headlight for a fancy American car he'd just had imported.

Why do you behave like a schmuck when you bump into someone famous?....all I could say was..."oooh you're Mike Baldwin" ......... doh what a chump!

Gonna sound like bragging now, i'm not honest, my father used to be a theatrical agent now retired, we had many a party, one year we had a conga through Bramhall (where we used to live) in the line up was Bob Monkhouse, I still have one of his ties. A few years before that we lived in Didsbury (Manchester) I woke up one morning, went downstairs a guy was sleeping on the couch, I asked my father who he was, he told me he was on his way to America to "make it big" his name Engelbert Humperdink
I still have loads of photos somewhere of the people we had round at the house, some nice some not so nice, not mentioning any names

              That's nothing.
I once passed Rory McGrath on a bus.
I'm well in with the celebs, me

Met quite a few down here,Stein's popularity brings them down. Got to be carefull now because some of them have spent the night talking and drinking with us and then told the press what a load of racist hillbillys we are.But wont mention names. BTW does anybody watch trigger happy tv? Chris evans was a good old boy,he spent the night drinking and having a yarn, didnt realise he was so tall!

                  I "met" 3 celebrities in the 80's

First one was Henry Cooper when I was 7 y/o. He was doing some promotion for Daddy's sauce at my local Morrisons, and I got his autograph.

Second one I didn't realise I'd actually "met". I went to London with my parents to visit my brother who was in the army there and I'd gotten a bit ahead of them and walk right into Steve Davis without even noticing who it was.

Third one was Lenny Henry at a panto on a school outing. This was during his tiswas days. I got an autograph.

I also saw Sue Nicholls once in a cafe in Manchester, but I don't really count this one as meeting her.

The first famous person i met was Errol Brown after a concert in the Glasgow Apollo. It was the day before my 15th birthday & he gave me a peck (swoon). Didn't sleep a wink that night. Saw him again last month in the Concert Hall. He's still gorgeous.

The second was Diane Keen. I was on a training course in Billingham & went to the theatre where she & Robin Nedwell were appearing in 'Same time next year'. We went to the bar after the play & she came in, went round all of the tables & had a chat. What a really nice down to earth lady.

The third was Mark McManus of Taggart fame. I was in a well known Glasgow Chinese restaurant & he was at the next table. Didn't speak to him but he looked over & gave us a nod & a big smile.

The first 'celeb' i recall meeting, was Ed 'Stewpot' Stewart in 1977 when he came to my school to do something about road safety. About 10 years afterwards I met Princess Diana at a charity i worked for. Three-four years ago I met then PM Tony Blair and Arch Bish Desmond Tutu (not at the same time) at another place I worked at. And in January I met the current English Arch Bish... can't remeber his name

                      I gets around y'know.

I've met two former Doctor Who's-Sylvester McCoy and Colin Baker-briefly at Memorabilia in Birmingham, and also Jaqueline Pierce, who played Servalan in Blake's 7 (still sexy, even after 25 years). My wife and I also had a drink and a chat with Elisabeth Sladen, Doctor Who's Sarah Jane Smith, at the bar at a Sci-Fi convention in Clacton a few years ago, after hearing her give a talk on her life. A very nice lady, genuinely friendly and interested in everybody she meets.

I met Richard "start the fans please" O'Brien of Crystal maze fame a few years ago. He was very nice and talked about the children's version of the programme and the ridiculous amount of applications they recieved. Slightly scarily, he didn't appear to have aged IN THE SLIGHTEST!!!
