    Re: Tell us a joke

Not quite a joke, but there was this quiz show question many years ago where the answer was a politician's name.

The host asked: Which politician has the same name as a body part?

    The answer...

    Re: Playground Rumours and Myths.

I think that anyone who was at school in 1988-1989, especially at Junior School, they got the playground rumours about eggs being poisonous because of the salmonella spreading as Edwina Currie said...

    Re: School Punishment

There was a rumour that the Headteacher of our Junior School had a cane in his office which he used if anyone was sent to him for doing something they shouldn't be doing - the rumour was that it was...

Re: Secondary School - first day

By the way, I meant 12.15 pm for Lunchtime and not 12.15 am.
  5. Re: Was you allowed out to Town/Village etc for Lunch at school

I went home for dinner, so I suppose that the answer was yes, (or perhaps no as I didn't do it in a "truancy" sort of way). Ironically, the lunchtime supervisors (dinner ladies to you) I got on quite...

Re: Secondary School - first day

Tuesday 5th September 1989 - the first day was a Tuesday probably because the Monday was Teacher Training Day. The whole form were in school uniform for the first time - only two of them who was at...

I thought that you were referring to the oldest club which is still in existence, rather than historically..

    Re: Football Clubs

Notts County is Britain's oldest I think (founded circa 1862), but I think that the world's oldest football club was founded prior to that.

    Re: Football Clubs

I have heard of Royal Arsenal but I have never really heard of the name Arsenal being used as a place name in the same sense as Chelsea or Tottenham is.

Queen of the South is not a place name...

    Re: Football Clubs

Do you mean that there is a football club that isn't named after a place name? If that is the case, then I doubt that Arsenal is a place name is it?

In Scotland, I suppose that Rangers doesn't...

    Re: Football Clubs

I am surprised that some clubs don't merge because of the short distance - I have often assumed that the Dundee issue can be so confusing to visitors and that some have actually arrived at the wrong...

    Re: Public information Films

Looking on YouTube and other forums, I have been recently reminded of the cross-ply and radial tyres one where a red Mini does more stunts than Mr Bean's car could ever do on a skidpan. Patrick Allen...

    Re: Football Clubs

I think that it is Dundee and Dundee United - I am certain that I read that they are both the closest to each other somewhere, probably on Wikipedia.

  18. Re: Regional children's programmes on ITV after CITV

She made the programmes look boring in comparison. Amazing that she was an unknown who happened to get the job in 1998.
  19. Re: Regional children's programmes on ITV after CITV

I was surprised that Kotter didn't make it to Channel 4 as it would have got an officially national transmission in Britain (that's if S4C also showed it as well). I am certain that Please Sir!...

They were obviously before my own time as a 1960s group but I do enjoy listening to them when stations like Gold plays their hits.

What did the Geordie say when he was surprised on This is Your Life?
    Why Eamonn?

What did the German bricklayer say to his dog when he was put down?

    Re: Grand National Memories

I had in my mind that the rerun was closer to 1999, but I knew that it was the late 1990s. A pity that they didn't do this in 1993 so that the punters and the bookies didn't end up having nervous...
